About us

The Tooting Neighbourhood Centre began in 1984 through the vision and dynamism of Bishop Melvin Powell and Mrs Amy Powell MBE, who both saw the desperate need for the provision of outreach services for growing numbers of various ethnic groups, in particular, the local African and Caribbean population.

Since it's modest beginnings, the Centre has grown, expanded, and developed to what is now a sizeable operation, and one that caters for all sections of the community as part of its Christian ethos and equality and diversity agenda.

Our vision is to continue to grow the size of our operations, both in the addition of new services and the taking on of increased numbers of clients, whilst at the same time, making sure that our very high standards of customer service, for all our clients, is maintained and enhanced.

Our founding principles are based on the teachings of the Bible, and is one of love, care, support, and help for all. This is due to the fact that the organisation that has established, backed, and supported the Centre since it's inception, is the New Testament Assembly, a leading church in the area and one which has a national profile and reputation for caring for, and serving, the local community.
